Job Summary:
The Environmental (EHS) Intern will support the organization to achieve a successful environmental, health, safety, and security program. This position will review and implement procedures, guidelines, promotional activities, and ensure industrial EHS effectiveness & compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Provides guidance on best practices for identifying and reducing environmental exposure.
- Prepare the facility for ISO 14001 certification by reviewing and strengthening environmental management programs.
- Review and maintain environmental programs to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist with regulatory reporting to the EPA and IDEM.
- Conduct annual stormwater sampling and testing.
- Review RCRA regulations and verify facility compliance, with a focus on identifying gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate air permit compliance status while expanding oversight of RCRA requirements and hazardous waste management.
- Recommend and support improvements to environmental and RCRA-related processes and procedures.
- Assist with internal environmental inspections.
- Collaborates with management & regulatory agencies to develop, prepare, and implement EHS policies and procedures.
- Submits recommendations and implements improvements and additions to the EHS management program.
- Prepares reports and general EHS information and distributes it to appropriate levels in the organization.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Strong learning aptitude required.
Education and Experience:
- Working towards a/ or having a degree in environmental engineering, environmental studies, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of EHS or related experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety audits and inspections.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to wear and use respirators.
- Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
