LAUNDRY OPERATOR/JANITOR

SUPPORT OPERATOR

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for cleaning the general office, restrooms, laboratory, locker rooms, showers, break room, windows, and general office building complex.  Also responsible for cleaning and laundering uniforms/towels in an environmentally safe manner. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Will process all laundry utilizing in-house commercial laundry equipment and manage/issue uniforms/towels.
• Will empty garbage cans, waste paper baskets, and dispose of miscellaneous empty boxes.
• Will manage administrative building recycling program.
• Will ensure that the parking lot and entrance to the complex remain free of all debris and are in clean presentable order.
• Must be able to give, take, and follow direction.
• Will operate general cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, etc.
• Communicate well with others.
• Will maintain inventory of supplies/uniforms/towels and janitorial supplies.

• Distributes paper towels, bathroom tissue, paper cups, cleansing agent, etc.

• Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains areas, parts, tools, and supplies utilizing Lean/5S methods.
• Will maintain snow removal and salt application in winter for administrative office walkways.
• Must be willing and able to clean-up areas as directed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SILLS/ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of the proper care of, and ability to use, cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, power scrubbers, polishers, and buffers.
• Working knowledge of the variety and uses of cleaning and sanitizing agents.
• To be familiar with and use universal precautions when dealing with blood or other bodily fluids.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to communicate well (written, verbal and otherwise).
• Knowledge of all company safety, health, environmental and production policies.
• Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Some form of computer training or experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
• Must be able to visually inspect machines.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders on a regular basis.
• Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
• Must be able to work wearing appropriate safety personal protective equipment.
