Maintenance Electrician Class II
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Electrician Class II will support the Maintenance Electrician Class I with planning, organizing, performing corrective and preventive electrical maintenance, install, inspect and correct electrical installations including but not limited to electric motors, starters, lights, conduit and cable trays, and any other devices involved with electrical power. They will support the Maintenance Electrician Class I install, test, maintain, program and calibrate control equipment and instruments including but not limited to: PLC’s, network devices, thermocouples, transmitters (pressure, temperature, flow, etc.). They will also support general mechanical maintenance activities on occasion to support the WSP team.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

- Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power).
- Capable of testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Must assist in the programing of VFD’s.
- Must assist with troubleshooting and programing PLC’s.
- Must assist with troubleshooting MCC’s and starters.
- Assemble, install, test, diagnose and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
- Maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment to meet regulatory codes.
- Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous electrical functions.
- Tests and operates all equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with all specifications. (safety, quality, environmental compliance, etc.)
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies utilizing Lean/5S methods.
- Must complete and maintain any assigned company required trainings and certifications.
- Ability to respond to emergency repairs after hours as needed and qualified.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Technically skilled (Electrical/Electronic) with great problem-solving skills.
- Must have basic mechanical skills and aptitude (including knowledge of pneumatic & hydraulic systems).
- Works well independently and with others.
- Good communication skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and heavy industrial environment.
- Capable of reading blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Must have average computer and typing skills.
- Must complete and maintain any assigned company required training and certifications.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent with Industrial Electrical/Electronic technical degree or equivalent certifications.
- 1-2 years of maintenance electrician experience in heavy industrial environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders on a regular basis.
- Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be capable of operating all manufacturing and mobile equipment including loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
- Must be able to work wearing appropriate safety PPE including respirators and arc-flash protection.
