Waelz Sustainable Products, LLC (WSP) is a partnership between Indianapolis-based Heritage Environmental Services and Zinc Nacional, both fourth-generation family-owned businesses.  Our companies have a long history of operating safe, efficient and sustainable businesses which include Zinc Nacional’s nearly seven decades of expertise in producing zinc oxide from mine ore and steel mill byproducts.  Zinc oxide is an important ingredient in many consumer products including sun block, diaper rash cream, cosmetics and dietary supplements to name a few.



Job Description

The supervisor is responsible to safely supervise the production and maintenance crew as assigned by management. The supervisor will ensure that all company policies are followed at all times for the immediate crew. Problems encountered will be decisively handled according to policy and notification of the same will be given to management. As management outlines, the supervisor will issue objectives and goals to the crew and track the progress of the same. The supervisor will be responsible for all environmental, health, safety, production, reporting, record keeping, and maintenance issues during the shift. The supervisor must possess excellent communication skills and act as a responsible employee at all times, be able to accept constructive criticism, correctly react to situations encountered, and be enthusiastic.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the plant operation, maintenance and production crew.
  • Follow all policies (WSP, EPA, ADEM, and OSHA) while supervising.
  • Communicate well with management, operations, maintenance, and office personnel.
  • Make correct safety, health, environmental, production, and maintenance decisions.
  • Train employees on the purpose, operation, and relationship of all plant equipment.
  • Must perform additional duties as required.
  • Must work additional hours as assigned.
  • Use spreadsheets to track plant performance.
  • Properly respond to all situations, including emergencies and/or unexpected situations.



  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to communicate well (written, verbal and otherwise).
  • Must possess supervisory skills.
  • Strong knowledge of all company safety, health, environmental and production policies.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. to waist level and carry the same for short durations.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, climb, bend, push, pull, and walk for extensive periods of time.
  • Must be able to work at heights in excess of 100 ft.
  • Must be able to work in all conditions (indoor/outdoor).
  • Must adhere to WSP dress code and personal appearance policy.


Training/Licensing/Certification Requirements:

  • Must gain and maintain HAZWOPER Training Certification.
  • Must be qualified to wear a respirator.
  • Must gain and maintain in-house mobile equipment certification.
  • Must satisfactorily complete WSP Leadership Training.



  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must possess computer training or equivalent experience.
