Vacuum Truck Operator
JOB SUMMARY:
The Vacuum Truck Operator will work with, and report directly to, the Materials, Planning and Logistics Manager. This role will coordinate the activities regarding the use of the vacuum truck around the site.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for performing all duties and activities to create a safe and environmentally compliant workplace that produces high quality products in a cost-efficient manner.
- Must perform all duties and activities in a manner that is aligned with our company values: Integrity, Humility, Innovation, Openness to Change, Collaboration, Excellence, and Customer Focus.
- Responsible for the safe and proper use of WSP’s vacuum truck in an industrial setting.
- Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance.
- Perform maintenance on the vacuum truck to maintain efficient operations.
- Ability to communicate with Logistics, Lab, Scale House, and the management team for a continuous flow within the department and organization.
- Maintain and complete reports, documentation of equipment, and required annual training.
- Ability to check and complete designated paperwork with high degree of accuracy.
- Help in implementing standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Ability to work additional assigned hours (weekends).
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- A positive attitude with an internal customer focus is a must.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Mechanically inclined to perform maintenance on equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Participate in creating standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Willing to accept after-hour calls when necessary.
- Responsible for establishing and creating a spare part list.
- Willing to thoroughly train employees in the use of the vacuum truck.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Operating a manual transmission is required.
- Class B CDL may become required.
- Must complete and maintain all respirator training and certification.
- Must complete and maintain any additional assigned company required training and certifications.
- Ability to learn and apply all required training in a safe and efficient manner.
- Basic knowledge and use of writing and arithmetic.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to wear respirator.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. at waist level for short durations.
- Ability to work at heights (climb ladders/steps).
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, push, or pull for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in outdoor climate for extended periods of time.
